Sunday 9 February 2014

Length: About 600-800 words
Purpose: To make sense of the material we’ve generated with our survey on attitudes toward the future in light of today’s environmental crises.
We should have a complete spreadsheet to work with as of February 4, and we will have some help with different approaches to working with that material when Dr. XXX visits on November 6.

Option 2: Write a letter to college students of the future explaining the attitudes of today’s students in relation to the attitudes of some other group or groups based on what we’ve gathered.

Option 3: Look at how the optimism or pessimism of survey respondents compares to the optimism of pessimism of one of our TED speakers.

Option 4: Grow your own. Propose a different approach to me and we’ll make something work.

Please feel free to use whatever skills you possess to make this document interesting. Do you know how to make graphs from a spreadsheet? Make graphs (and explain them). Do you know how to do interesting stuff with maps? Do that (and explain them). You know, if you want to create a comic that would convey something important revealed by our survey, I’d be good with that!

In assessing performance on this assignment I’ll be looking for evidence of thorough engagement with the material, including both the numerical data and the written comments, as well as attention to the interests and capacities of your audience(s).
