Lethal Force
Identify an aspect of warfare that has remained relatively constant since the 1600s. Explain why it has survived four centuries of change.
I need an argumentative essay that can argue "what aspect of warfare that has remained relatively constant since the 1600s. Also, explaining why it has survived four centuries of change.
H100 lesson, says “According to Military Theory, the lethal nature of war itself remains the same (defeat the enemy – death and destruction). What frequently changes are means used to engage in warfare or how we fight.” The reasons lethal nature has remained unchanged is probably due to the psychology of human nature. If a child takes a toy from another it creates a fight same as it did a thousand years ago. And the lethality of war has remained unchanged due to the dehumanizing of the opposing side, if we make them out to be less than human, it is easier to kill and inflict cruelty on them. I would also add that the “human side” –feelings, emotions, response to threats, has also remained the same.
**The essays should include a thesis, major points, and documentation (endnotes or footnotes; NO parenthetical citations). Below is a list of names that should be used as reference for this essay. I need a minimum of 4 references. I can provide articles of this individuals or you can use any articles or quotations from any of the articles or books written by the following list of names:
• Carl von Clausewitz
• Antoine de Jomini
• Frederick the Great
• Napoleon
• Sun Tzu
• Machiavelli
ALTERNATE Question:
Which theorist best characterizes the nature of warfare, Jomini or Clausewitz? Use evidence from one of these theorists and from H100 to substantiate your argument.
